What are the staff/child ratios?
The child and adult ratios are set out by the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016. All of our playgroups meet the ratio requirements. FCPAL employ additional staff at each playgroup to support our staff to toileting, breaks and busy times throughout the morning. If our staff have to take time off work due to illness, we have relief staff on-call who are available to work.
The standard ECCE Preschool ratio for sessional services ( up to 3.5 hours a day) is 1 adult to 11 children (1:11). This ratio applies to children aged 2 years 6 months to 6 years old.

Does my child need to be toilet trained before starting in the Playgroup?
We would encourage all children starting the Playgroup to be actively toilet training, as we do not have nappy changing facilities on the premises.

How do I join the waiting list?
To check availability in any of our Playgroup locations please complete the enquiry form, or contact the Playgroup Coordinator by email or phone and a staff member will be in touch to confirm if we have availability and if we don't the child will join our waiting list. We would operate a separate priority list for siblings.
How do I know what number I am on your waiting list?
We cannot provide updates on our waiting list as we wouldn't have visibility of when a place might become available as this will depend on another child leaving the service. Should a placement become available we would be in touch. Once a place becomes available the place will be offered to the child next on the list.
Do you close for Summer?
Yes, the Playgroups close in the Summer, in line with their ECCE calendar. Griffith Community Playgroup are now offering a Summer Club for the month of July under the NCS scheme to current children attending.
